PostSubject: ALERT!!!   Wed Mar 25, 2009 5:35 pm

I don't know if you already know this or not. But FileFront is being shut down at the end of the month. The forums have already been shut down with the homepage and network sites to follow at the end of this week.

Now, this may just be a early April Fools joke. If it is, I'm not laughing but I thought I'd post this here as I would hate for whoever uses the upload system to lose their stuff.

Re-download all your stuff in your profiles, if any, back to your computer just to be on the safe side.

If the network admins there are screwing with us, they'll have one less member to deal with. Mad

With that in mind, download anything that interests you from the network sites incase this turns out to be true.

GOOD LORD!!!
I just talked to a rep with filefront before reading this about the deletion queue. She didn't say anything about this, but I'll re-eMail her and ask about this, all joking aside. If this is true, this is complete bull!
Filefront is the only site that I have to upload my work, besides megaupload which deletes if no one dl's for a few days or so.
Just in case this is true, does anyone here know of any sites that I could upload to that wouldn't delete my files? Like, that one site that hosted that Atlantis DHD sim, but it was like "we only host businesses or something." I figure, if anyone got a sim in there (which I don't imagine they'd spend money on to make), I figure I could get my work in there if I use my pretty much non profit (not registered) company.
Anyway, as I said, I'll double check with filefront about this Wink I'll post the results here.

Yeah... about that, I've had a copy of a 3D software for some company uploaded to my account for almost a year now without any consequences :/ What's up with that?
Anyway, I got the eMail that I think Bill may have got as well.

I'm thinking this is fake, as Bill said, given how close it is to April 1, THAT, and that they only gave us about five or six days to clean house of our files. I'm going to use SourceForge.com now from now on, because this, agreeing with Bill, is the straw that has not just broken the camel's back, but snapped it into tiny pieces, pulled each section apart, vertebrae by vertebrae, and chewed on the small nerves inside it. It even took a few ribs with it.
If this works, I suggest that everyone uses it. It's been convenient for me in the past, and it seems that everything's worked out well so far.

I don't know, if my project is approved on SourceForge, I'm joining Bill in leaving them...
