Well, seeing as how SGEH v1 has been released, new maps are going to be needed for future versions.

No one likes scripting a Stargate, and what i think is that Jack or whoever has made one before, just makes two connected stargates as a .map, script it and all, get it working, then put it on here for download. then, mappers can easily download it and import it into their maps, and then making stargate maps would be SO much easier.

Thats just what i think

good one, in ERP they were planning to release such a map but it never happened.. dunno why not, probably the lack of time and energy or something

Id do it, but i dont have a working stargate Sad
And, what would be even better is to release it on jk3files. There are tons of people who like stargate, but are afraid to script it. This would hopefully bring those people out

And I know ERP advertised their stuff on JKAfiles, that's how I found their older forums, and then their new ones Razz

I found theres because of there server name....and then I had a file missing that they had...so I googled the file name XD

i mean, it would only take MAYBE 15 minutes of someones time:
copy a stargate map
delete everything besides the stargate, dhd, etc, etc
Compile
Put all necessary scripts and such into a pk3
upload

and done. Sadly, when you decompile a map (i've gotten permission to decompile SGB), everything gets messed up

Hm... how do you decompile? Do you go into the map itself or just the .pk3's?
PS, I also figured out that I might be able to put maps of JKA into Counter Strike Very Happy

i got permission to decompile the SGB.bsp into .map format.
But, when you do that is messes up the whole thing.

Hm... you might be able to extract the model from the map itself from GTKradiant, or you could ask to use the models SGEH uses from Sheppard/O'Neill.

I have the models, i mean all the mapping and scripting thats 300 miles above my head.

Jack declined? I talked to him about scripting with us, but he said his GTK was dead so he couldn't script, hm... Some eerie stuff is happening in this forum I just realized, DeX, Rod, and Amy are injured or has girl probs, MINUS AMY I BELIEVE!!!

Can't wait to see what Kaito comes up with Razz
But I have a suggestion that got talked about, but kinda thrown away at ERP. I suggested that we make a map like, if you've ever played Lego Star Wars Saga, You'd know that they have a cantina/bar, before all the episodes, it's the main hang out for all the Lego dude/ets. I was thinking we could make one of those where we could all chill when we're not RPing and maybe even have an always active Stargate that spawns NPC's every now and then and stops once it's a certain number on the map Very Happy

they only threw it away because they don't know how to make maps... I just wish it was easier then it looked...because I hate not being able to do anything to help... this is all over my head...but I love that idea ^_^ like it makes me think of the starwars tatooween (or how ever you spell it) they have a small bar hehe

That's what I was going for, but if we did the first game's bar, we could roam around a large city like coruscant with an endless pit for roads, always night, and speeders running by everywhere lol Very Happy

well we can always summon speeders but having them already there is cool...lol maybe add a stargate feel to it and add a few ships on the roof to travel with for fun =P

I sent the blue prints to DeX of it, it has a landing pad for Jumpers, 302's, and 306's (to come in Aurora, with pictures Very Happy)

What's the status of this idea for a basic scripted stargate map, because that was always the thing that put me off, i could map but then stargates just never worked for me Sad so it would be very cool to have such a basic map to work from!

dunno if we are still doing this...I hope we do because it sounds great but we are getting better stargates and rings with the next patch or the one after that. We found an AMAZING scripter who knows exactly how to do what we want ^_^ then all you have to do is ask either shep or dex and then you could possibly use our gates... ^_^ or at least disect the gate and learn how to make your own ^_^

I tried making my own before, scripting is not my thing, i failed completely, i doubt i will ever get the hang of it, oh well, im sure something can be arranged =] who is the scripter you've found?
