Military Rankings

Okay, I was chillin' with SG-3 (PM me if you're curious) and I started to think of the rank system of ERP, it was just mostly ^7Airman ranks really, so I had an idea. We create an application thread like ERP to have you put your experience with any RPing or stuff with Stargate, or talents. Like, if you're good with textures, maps, so forth, you could be a Stargate Technician, or if you have a moderate amount of RP stuff, you could be a Sergent or something, OR, if you're cool like me, and know the Stargate genre in and out (seen every SG-1/Atlantis and am following the Atlantis episodes) then you could be an Archeaologist like Daniel Jackson, out in the field, but you get to shoot stuff and ascend because you're loved by all ascended women
Moving on, that's my idea!

I had to teach a class on Stargate, ended up taking away 3 hours of the classes life they will never get back *sigh*

I don't think ascending would be a good option...too many power trips there....but the rest is cool...

nah in my opinion, that'd get people down, what makes someone a good contributor? Someone who knows little, but contributes a lot.. or a briliant mapper who isnt active at all.. it'd get people down (no and I'm not doing a social science study :p)

I'd like to make a level from the new show, Stargate Universe. Deals with the 9th chevron and all... just dunno what there gates will look like.. anyways Varrok is right.

Ranks would go up as knowledge of what not goes up, also, they released one screen of Universe, and I read up on it on gateworld.com, they're using the same gate as SG-1

how would military ranks down people...we have ranks on forums...why not in game? This is a military/airforce based game...

That's what I was thinking, is it a self esteem thing? Because I didn't exactly understand Varrok's post.

My point is still very valid. You cant give people ranks that have to do with their 'level' of skills, for those reasons I refer to my post above. Secondly this isnt a roleplay forum.. so ranks dont really matter.

Thats right it's not a role playing forum. And it isnt really fare to go by your level of skills...

self asteem? so this isn't a role play forum...its a roleplay game... and if we are going to role play we need assigned chars, and part of the sgc world is based of the military... and military has ranks... its not about asteem problems thats not even really a logical answer... no one has ranks because of there self asteem but as a badge showing you have the skills needed. Its like an sg version of saying "admin" ect

And if it was unclear, I meant like ranks on the server.
